Lemon Buttermilk Sheet Cake ~ #TheCakeSliceBakers

If life throws you a lemon - make this Lemon Buttermilk Sheet Cake.

The Cake Slice Bakers continue to bake through The Perfect Cake from America's Test Kitchen. This book has become a fast favorite amongst the bakers.  Not only is it filled with so many great cakes for all occasions, the recipes have been tested multiple times by the Test Kitchen so you know when they say a recipe works you now that it will as they they have ironed out all of the kinks.

As always there were four great choices this month and it was a hard decision. I narrowed it down to two of the cakes, and then kept going back and forth trying to decided. In the end it was easier just to let my family pick which one they wanted me to make, and hands down it was the Lemon-Buttermilk Sheet Cake.

I loved everything about this cake from the ease of making it to the last crumb.  This isn't a fancy cake with all the bells and whistles.  It is, however, the cake you want when you want something that has a delicate sponge-like texture with a hint of lemon and a super easy frosting that has a lovely lemon-sugar crackle to it. This is the cake that everyone will be coming back for seconds (and maybe even thirds) for and asking if they can have the recipe. This will become your go-to cake.

America's Test Kitchen has asked us not to publish the recipes for the cakes we bake, so to make it you can find the recipe for this cake on page 115 of The Perfect Cake.

Each month The Cake Slice Bakers are offered a selection of cakes from the current book we are baking through.  This year it is The Perfect Cake from America's Test Kitchen #atkcake.  We each choose one cake to bake, and then on the 20th - never before - we all post about our cake on our blogs. There are a few rules that we follow, but the most important ones are to have fun and enjoy baking & eating cakes!

Follow our Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest pages where you can find all of our cakes, as well as inspiration for many other cakes. You can also click on the thumbnail pictures below to take you to each of our cakes, or visit our blog where the links are updated each month. If you are interested in joining The Cake Slice Bakers and baking along with us, please send an email to thecakeslicebakers at gmail dot com for more details.

    1. Aloha Mary if you do a search for this cake you will find this particular recipe online as it has been published before. This is a wonderful book and we are honoring the publisher' request not to post the recipes, but maybe you could ask for the book as a gift or borrow it from your local library to see all the other wonderful recipes in it?
